Mom released her first fart yesterday morning. It came out of nowhere and was gone before she knew it.
She also had her first meal! She was so relieved to have the aesthetic experience of eating again. So happy. See photo.
Today the doctor let her know she'd likely be able to go home tomorrow. She has passed gas, had a bowel movement, eaten (liquids) without nausea and the catheter issue has been resolved (it was leaking and giving her guff now she's without it and is urinating on her own just fine).
The RN just let her know she'd be receiving "soft" foods tomorrow morning for breakfast.
Mom says all the good stuff really started happening after she was able to read from the Bible on her own. She was reading Psalms and also First Timothy chapter 2 (because that's what dad told her they went over at church on Sunday).
It's like a whirlwind of good news and good things. Dr. Lim said tonight, "I told you once you go, you go!" Sometime tomorrow she should be off on her way to their motor home nestled in the Virginia City Foothills (southwest part of Reno).
This is the end of phase one. In a couple weeks we will meet with Dr. Lim to discuss the plan of attack on the 10% of cancer that is left in her body because it was not possible to remove surgically. The paperwork he left with her today states that she is to receive chemo for the next 18 months. She says, "I am not out of the woods (she has no idea the photo I am putting up has a tree in it!) yet financially, physically or emotionally. But praise the Lord and God bless you all. Thank you for your continued support and thanks in advance for the support you provide for me and my family."
