Mom walked twice today and got to go outside too! It amazed her and the staff how fast she went. She said it is because she was stronger and had no nausea today. "Maybe part of it strong-willed" she ponders this evening as I write this.
When my father took her outside in the wheel chair lugging the rack of tubes and medicines with them, Mom was happy to smell different plants and flowers. It was the first time she's been outside since early morning 5/13/10. The feeling of "fresh, fresh, fresh" air felt wonderful. She reports the wind was not blowing, the sun was out and the temperature was just perfect!
This evening I did a visualization exercise with mom including three positive affirmations by Louise Hay. First, with her eyes closed, I encouraged her to allow her body's nerves and brain to communicate and release any tension, discomfort, pain, etc in her body starting with the legs, then the arms, neck and head, and finally her upper body. That alone took a good 20 minutes. I was surprised she stayed awake during this 35 minute exercise. Once I could see that she had completely let herself free of any tension or discomfort, I moved on to the affirmations.
The affirmations are for ailments of different parts of the body. The first has to do with ovarian issues (mom's were just removed): I am balanced in my creative flow. The second is for gastritis: I love and approve of myself. I am safe. The third with flatulence: I relax and let life flow through me with ease. We slowly went through each affirmation with her eyes still closed and body completely relaxed repeating each a few times after me. It was amazing to watch how it affected her body, posture, face, etc.
Luckily we had a 40 minute window where she didn't have to have the leg braces on that tighten and loosen nor was the oxygen hooked up and beeping every few minutes! These items aside, we had a wonderful visualization and meditation exercise that resulted in audible gurgles from places she had already had them and also from two areas within herself she hadn't experienced them yet!! Progress. :) Mom says it was "a nice session."
As I complete this blog she is laughing at the squealing sounds coming from her abdomen stating, "I am going to fart soon." She says she has pigs squealing in her belly - she says, "I do, I am that pig and I am hungry." The last time mom ate any food was 5/12/10 at noon. She has had nutrients fed into her body with the tubes and can start on clear, liquid foods after farting and they monitor and find her colon is functioning - usually about 6 hours of monitoring after the first fart.
